The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

It is that time of year again! Time for Jenny’s Countdown to Christmas Advent Box through Missouri Star Quilt Company! Yay!

Each day in the month of December, I open one item from Jenny’s Countdown to Christmas Box and make a video about it, too! I also update this blog daily with the latest video links, my thoughts on that day’s item, and what I believe it s the value of the items. This is my third year doing this. Now, on to this year’s box!

Day 1: Sn-Ugly Sweater Charm Pack

This year’s box started out with a great item—FABRIC! My favorite type of gift! I just love this! This charm pack is called Sn-Ugly Sweater (get it? Ugly Sweater but Snuggly Sweater?). It included (42) 5” squares of cotton fabric with two of each print (22 different prints). Many of these prints really do look like something you would see on an ugly sweater. So cute! Click here for the video for Day 1!

Estimated Value: $11.00

Day 2: Ugly Sweater Wall Hanging Quilt Pattern, Lightweight Fusible Interfacing, & Ugly Sweater Template

LOVE these items! The pattern is sooooo cute! I just had to make it right away! Here it is! Don’t you just love it? The ugly sweater template is adorable, too! Click here for the video for Day 2!

Estimated Value: $17.00 (pattern: $10; interfacing: $2; & template: $5)

Day 3: Magic Pins

Magic Pins! Have you tried these yet? They are great! The heads of these are flat (love that!) and are made of silicone, so they are heat resistant! Perfect for quilting, especially if you need to iron over them. Great item! There are 50 in this pack of pins. Click here for the video for Day 3!

Estimated Value: $8.00

Day 4: Set of (4) 8” Quilt-Themed Plates

Although this isn’t my favorite item, I know I am not going to love them all. They are cute, however, and as time went on, they are growing on me. They would be great on a wall or for snacks. I think I am going to use them as cookie plates as gifts this holiday season.

Estimated Value: $12.00

Day 5: Fabric Twine Trees Pattern & Cones

These are so cute! I can’t wait to try them! The instructions say to use fabric scraps to make twine and then wrap around the trees using hot glue. Love this item. Last year we also got a tree-making kit using embroidery. I am wondering if this will be a yearly tradition! Wouldn’t that be fun?

Estimated Value: $20.00

Day 6: Quilty Rolling Pin & Recipe

Oh my goodness! Look at how cute this is! Whether you use it to emboss cookies or to display, it is just adorable! It is a beautiful wooden rolling pin that measures 8.5” with the handles and. approx. 4” without the handles. It has six different quilt designs on the barrel. So sweet! Love it! Now to make some cookies!

Estimated Value: $15.00

Day 7: Kona Cotton Solids Charm Pack

LOVE getting fabric! This one is a bit peculiar and has really piqued my interest. It only contains three colors of fabric. Hmmmm. I am thinking there is a project coming for this one! What do you think? Either way, I love fabric, so this is a win for me!

Estimated Value: $11.00

Day 8: Table Runner Pattern & Poly-Therm Fleece

I just love projects! This is perfect! I kind of thought there may be something coming, and I was right! I love when that happens! :) Check out my video for tomorrow (Day 9) to see the projects finished.

As for a review on this pattern—it is REALLY cute. I love it! BUT there aren’t any pressing instructions including. Bummer. Also, the directions on the fleece suggest using two layers, and we only received enough for one layer. Bummer x2. Oh well! Overall, LOVE this one!

Estimated Value: $10.00 (Pattern) & $7.00 (Fleece)

Day 9: Rechargeable Clip Light

This is a wonderful item! Not only is it in a great color (love the MSQC teal), it is a great item to have, especially since you can use it on the go. This light has three different settings and the charge lasts at least a few hours.

Estimated Value: $15.00

Day 10: 2-Pack of Quilting-Themed Playing Cards

These are so pretty! These high-quality playing cards feature Chuck the Duck as the joker (so cute) and beautiful images on the back and front of the cards. They are so nice! I also love the drawer-style box. This one is a good one!

Day 11: Felt Bird Kit

This felt bird kit is so cute! There are enough supplies in this kit to make four birds. I have made two so far. I love getting projects like this because they make try things I never would have done before, like this. I am hooked! I want to make more projects like this now. A new hobby, perhaps?

Estimated Value: $20.00

Day 12: Silicone Iron Rest

This silicone iron rest is perfect for its intended purpose (to rest your iron) or as a decorative element in your sewing space. It is made of a durable silicone (super thick!). According to the package, it can “withstand heat up to 464 degrees Fahrenheit (240 degrees C).” It is a great item!

Love this bright and cheery charm pack! Look at those beautiful tropical colors! These fabrics are designed by Stephania Organes for Andover Fabrics. The collection is called Wandering Ways. It includes (42) 5” squares. There are two of most prints and three of a few, too. LOVE this!

Estimated Value: $10.95

Day 15: Patchwork Bag Kit

This collection includes an adorable patchwork purse pattern, the purse handles, a magnetic closure, and two pieces of 14” x 14” light fusible batting. The charm pack from yesterday will work beautifully with this pattern! I am sure that is by design. 😎

Day 16: (2) Wet It Cleaning Cloths

Although I haven’t tried the Roxanne brand of glue sticks, I do use other products from the Roxanne company, so I am excited to try this one. This contains .21 oz of glue. The point turner has four quilt blocks etched into it. It is very pretty!

Estimated Value: $12.75 (Glue: $7.75; Point Turner: $5.00)

Day 18: Hexie Dream Pillow Kit

Today’s item is a pattern for a beautiful pillow, a elongated hexagon template, and 24 pre-cut double-sided fusible batting pieces. The project looks so pretty! I can’t wait to try this one!

Day 19: Variety Puzzle Pack & Pencils

These puzzles all have a quilting theme. How fun is that? There are 72 pages of all different types of puzzles, including crosswords, logic puzzles, word searches, and more. Perfect item for cold winter nights, when you aren’t quilting, that is!
